Notice to candidates about parking lot traffic during elections

May 4 election

Candidates for Public Office and Citizens of Willow Park:

Over the past few municipal elections, candidates for public office and/or citizens who support them have stopped vehicles to solicit votes as they are entering the parking lot of City Hall which is in the area outside the marker as placed by the Election Judge where they may lawfully conduct electioneering.  While some of the motorists are voters coming to City Hall to vote, others are simply customers paying water bills, or contractors who are looking to obtain permits, etc.  At times, this practice of stopping vehicles as they are entering City Hall has caused significant traffic back up on Ranch House Road, specifically for Northbound traffic.  It also produces a hazard as traffic exits City Hall as well.  In an attempt to ensure the safety of our motorists on Ranch House Road, the City of Willow Park requests candidates for office and/or citizens who support them to refrain from stopping any inbound or outbound traffic at City Hall for electioneering purposes.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the City Manager, Bryan Grimes, or the City Secretary, Alicia Smith.
